Piano Chord Technique

Develop a practical chord vocabulary for gospel and worship accompaniment. This course brings together focused lessons on chord construction, voicings and harmonic relationships.

What you will practise

• Suspended, diminished, augmented and minor chords.
• Major and minor thirds, drop-2 voicings and modes.
• The circle of fifths, seventh and ninth chords, and 2-5-1 progressions.

Before you start

You should be comfortable finding notes and playing basic major and minor triads. Take one voicing into a short progression, listen for the top note and check whether it leaves room for the singer.
